As a Team Leader you will serve as the key contact for your company volunteers and the nonprofit where your group will volunteer.
As a Team Leader you…
- Are the liaison between your volunteer group, the nonprofit organization and the Week of Caring Team (i.e., United Way and the Volunteer Centers of the Bay Area).
- Will help recruit your volunteer team.
- Communicate and organize project logistics
- Communicate with the nonprofit staff about the project details.
- Lead your team to complete your chosen activity and have fun on the day of the event.
Week of Caring is the largest corporate volunteer program in the Bay Area. This week-long event brings thousands of people from dozens of local companies together to volunteer at Bay Area nonprofits.
With generous support from Chevron and in partnership with the Volunteer Centers of the Bay Area, Week of Caring provides a free, easy and unique way for corporations to strengthen their community involvement and increase their status as corporate leaders. Week of Caring also provides employees with a tangible way to see the impact that their partnership with United Way is having in the community.
Week of Caring is a great way to promote volunteerism, increase awareness of local human service agencies and give people a chance to see firsthand the results that United Way is getting in our community. These unique volunteer collaborations provide essential support to our partner agencies – and bolster campaign success.
We want to create a positive experience for our volunteers, one in which participants leave feeling inspired, appreciated and motivated to continue investing in their communities by partnering with United Way.
With hundreds of projects to choose from, Week of Caring provides a variety of projects to meet the unique interests of your employees. Some of last year’s projects included:
- Cleaning and repairing classrooms, playgrounds and parks
- Packing and preparing food baskets at area food banks
- Reading to children at day-care centers
- Assemble playground equipment
- Paint blacktop
- Install motion detectors
- Paint interior or exterior walls
- Install sprinkler system
- Prepare for painting
- Install a new flag pole
- Plant, prune or fertilize gardens
- Wash windows
- Install window blinds
- Prepare lunch for clients
- Wrap packages
